Jay is a bay, 4 year old (2007) thoroughbred gelding off the track.
He retired from racing sane, sound and quiet.
At 16 hands, with good bone and good feet, he's available for sale at $10,000.
Jay spent last fall just relaxing and hacking then started gently learning a new job. He is a willing partner on the flat and shows a natural talent for jumping. His first XC schools went surprisingly well. Water, banks, ditches. Working all three phases in a snaffle. It's all just no big deal to him. He stays relaxed in company. He had always been great off property so our next step was to see how he'd be at an away show. There was no special preparation since he was just going for experience. He responded by getting a 29.1 in dressage for low score of the day. (OK it was just Beginner Novice at a small USEA horse trial). Then there was what he thought was a cross country school. He had a couple of stops to look at jumps before taking them, but happily kept on going around the course in that easy gallop he has, getting braver as he went. Jay was surprised in stadium jumping. He had never seen stadium jumps except those in his back yard. He also didn't know you could have that many jumps in one round. He had a couple of rails down and some time faults, but again he just kept on going. Please don't tell him he just took 5th place at the Corona del Sol Spring USEA Horse Trials. He thinks he just had a fun time away from home.
